ShelterCare's Accounting Department in Eugene, OR is seeking to hire a full-time Senior Accountant to be an integral part of keeping our agency running smoothly, allowing the agency to faithfully serve our vulnerable clients. Our Accounting Department is responsible for a nearly $9 million financial operation, meeting tracking and reporting requirements from auditors and grant agencies, capturing all earned funds, and paying obligations. The Senior Accountant earns a competitive wage of $53,000 - $56,000 annually, depending on experience. Prorated for employees working less than 40 hours a week.If you have experience in high-level accounting and want to pursue a rewarding career as a Senior Accountant, apply today!A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A SENIOR ACCOUNTANTAs a Senior Accountant, you will ensure that ShelterCare's accounting transactions are handled in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles in a timely manner. You will be the primary person to prepare, submit, and ensure accuracy of recording payroll for 100+ staff. You will prepare journal entries, participate in month-end closing procedures, assist in preparing monthly financial statements, reconcile bank statements, provide monthly balance sheet reconciliation for all corporations, and provide backup for other accounting department functions if needed. You'll monitor and reconcile QuickBooks program income to help maintain accuracy. You'll be the one to coordinate W-2 processing and distribution every year.You'll also be responsible for developing and maintaining an up-to-date job manual, researching actual to budget variances when required, and researching general ledger transactions. You will develop, interpret, and implement complex financial and accounting concepts for financial planning and control. You will also perform the incredibly vital, complicated task of ensuring all ACA requirements are met. • Three to four years of complex accounting and financial experience that includes demonstrated ability in all aspects of financial/audit skills
• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or another related field
• Current knowledge of Federal and State payroll processing rules/regulations
• Prior payroll processing for 100+ employees
• Analyzation and organization skills
• Critical thinking skills
• Strong computer and significant, demonstrated experience with advanced Excel skills
• Ability to drive agency vehicles
• Ability to successfully pass a DHS background checkPreferred
