Accounting Supervisor to join our growing team. Volunteers of
America Oregon is a nonprofit providing a range of therapeutic,
trauma-informed, and supportive services to empower populations to
implement changes and thrive.The Accounting Supervisor is
responsible for supervising the day-to-day accounting operations as
it relates to cash flow, cash receipts, accounts payable, accounts
receivable, payroll and general ledger according to agency
policies. Staff the department to meet and support agency needs.
The position will also ensure compliance with GAAP, as well as
other requirements outlined in VOA Contracts.Compensation: $64,480
$85,966/year. This is a full-time position with excellent benefits!

Training & Experience:Bachelor's degree required, preferably in
business, accounting or related field.Minimum of five years of
generalist accounting experience required, preferably in a
non-profit environment.Minimum of two years of supervisory
experience is preferred.Comprehensive knowledge of Uniform Guidance
and Single Audit implementation.Knowledge of donor-specific grant
regulations.Advanced proficiency in Excel.Experience with a wide
variety of office and accounting applications, including MS Office
and preferably Intacct Accounting Software.Clear understanding of
Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and
implementation.Competencies:Must be able to work collaboratively in
a team environment with Billing and Finance teams.Solid knowledge
of bookkeeping and accounting principles, laws, and
regulations.Effective written, verbal, and interpersonal skills to
clearly communicate to other program, administrative staff, and
management.Strong computer skills: Microsoft Office 365, Excel
(managing spreadsheets, creating charts, and using advanced and
embedded formulas), SharePoint, Microsoft Teams,
PowerPoint.Excellent analytical skills to manage large amounts of
data.Excellent management and supervisory skills.Ability to take
initiative, handle and prioritize multiple concurrent projects with
competing deadlines.Strong ability to create systems for
operational efficiency.Additional Eligibility Requirements:Ability
to pass criminal background check.Reliable form of

date.Essential Duties & Responsibilities:Oversee the accuracy and
timely process of bi-weekly payroll and daily transactions
including, but not limited to, accounts payable, accounts
receivable, general ledger and bank reconciliations.Demonstrate
team management skills and assist with staff workload
management.Approve any irregular and non-reoccurring monthly
journal entries and review balance sheet, general ledger accounts,
and income statement schedules.Responsible for accuracy and timely
reporting of all financial information, including month-end and
year-end financial reports. After review of financial information,
make recommendations to Controller & CFO if changes need to be
made.Prepare monthly financial analysis identifying and
understanding risks to the budget, timing issues, or accounting
issues to proactively address with management, accounting, and
HR.Implement training for new hires and identifies training
opportunities for current staff.Review and manage the system of
internal controls over accounting functions to minimize
risk.Responsible for compliance and implementation of changes in
accounting policies and procedures after review by Controller &
CFO.Supervise and participate in the annual financial, funder, and
pension audits and prepare audit-related trackers & perform
preliminary review of submission documents for external
audits.Coordinate with the Controller on the internal audit process
and implementation including decision on number of internal audits
to be conducted on an annual basis.Manage deadlines for all
accounting reports and matters.Establish a rapport with each
program and act as liaison between program directors and accounting
and advise them on accounting matters including monthly financial
report reviews.Create solutions regarding accounting issues with
vendors and other external parties.Manage accounting and financial
systems and projects including accounting software upgrades and
conversions, and other processes to improve efficiency and
strengthen internal control.Review and finalize IRS and other
governmental filings.Assist with annual budget evaluation and
development process.Contract evaluation and management to ensure
funder billings are correct and comply with executed
agreements.Manage month-end/year-year end closing processBudget and

well-qualified, well-trained staff.Supervisory Responsibility:
Position is responsible for supervision of approximately five other
employees.Environmental Conditions: This position typically works
in an office environment located in Portland Oregon. Due to
COVID-19, this position is currently working a hybrid schedule,
with the majority of functions being performed remotely, with the
possibility of returning to the office environment, full-time, or
alternating office and remote hybrid work schedule in the future.
This is based on operational needs and guidance from State and
local officials. While this position is currently remote, the
employee will need to reside in the Portland metro area by date of
hire.Schedule: This is a full-time position; 40 hrs. per week;
Monday through Friday. Additional hours as needed.Volunteers of
