The offices of Federal Affairs and State and Community Affairs together form the Government and Community Relations (GCR) work group. Government and Community Relations coordinates the University of Oregon's legislative advocacy efforts at the federal, state, and local levels, including the community engagement and sponsorship programs. GCR's mission is to build and strengthen relationships with the university's constituencies and encourage investment in and support for the university, its programs, and its initiatives. Position Summary
The Assistant Director of Neighbor Relations is a key member of the Community Relations team, responsible for representing the university to and improving relations with external stakeholders adjacent to the Eugene campus. Working with the Director of Community Relations and Sponsorships and the Assistant Vice President of Community Relations, the Assistant Director strategically engages with neighborhood associations, responds to community concerns, and provides opportunities for positive interactions between the university and its surrounding community.

The Assistant Director is responsible for creating and managing an outreach program to support the university's connections with off-campus housing providers in the Eugene-Springfield area, establishing new relationships and enriching existing connections via timely information sharing, collaborative programming, and problem solving. This position partners with colleagues in the Division of Student Life and the Office of the Dean of Students to create, launch, and sustain educational programming that enhances off-campus student living, remediates community impacts from student behavior, and advances UO's strategic vision for community engagement.

This position reports to the Director of Community Relations and Sponsorships, and works both independently and under the guidance of the Director and the Assistant Vice President of Community Relations. This position will encounter and need to work collaboratively with a wide variety of individuals and organizations. As a representative and spokesperson for the university, the Assistant Director must be comfortable and competent interfacing with UO students, civic leaders, and a myriad of other professionals in an inclusive and equitable manner. Minimum Requirements
--- Bachelor's degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
--- Two years of professional experience in events, external relations, fundraising, or a related field. Professional Competencies

--- Demonstrated reliability, conscientiousness, and dedication.
--- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with staff, coordinate volunteers, and develop strategies to achieve operating goals.
--- Strong project management skills with high attention to detail and accuracy, as well as the flexibility to manage competing demands and priorities in the face of rapid change.
--- Ability to act as a representative of the UO, including using equitable and inclusive practices to facilitate relationships between students and the community.
--- Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office suite.
--- Demonstrated ability to make connections across campus and throughout the community to help achieve our strategic objectives.
--- Ability to work with volunteers, understand motivations, and facilitate meaningful volunteer experiences.
--- Ability to interact, communicate, and work effectively with individuals, recognizing and respecting the many and varied identities of each person.
--- Commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity, equity, and inclusion.
--- Ability to travel locally. Preferred Qualifications
--- Experience in event management.
--- Previous personnel management, especially work with students.
