Job Description:
- POSITION SUMMARY: The Resource Development Manager (RDM) will
assist the Resource Development Director (RDD) in the daily
operations of Pearl Buck Center's annual fund development program
by encouraging donor and funder engagement with a focus on
increasing the pipeline of first time and mid-level gifts through
identification, cultivation, solicitation, recognition and
stewardship. This position will promote agency fundraising through
research, grant-writing, reporting and relationship-building with
foundations/funders. The RDM will efficiently use proven industry
methods in line with Pearl Buck Center's development plan to help
achieve annual fundraising goals through special events and special
recognition programs as well as marketing and communications
strategies. Marketing and communications include inward and public
facing activities. All efforts must demonstrate the highest levels
of professionalism and ethical conduct.
- ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- In cooperation with the Resource Development Director, manage
and implement all phases of the annual fund development plan
including solicitation, gift entry and recording, acknowledgement
and stewardship. Ensure that records and policies adhere to IRS
guidelines for donations, actively interfacing with the accounting
department
- Expand and manage a year-round program to cultivate new and
current prospects and seek out new funding opportunities from
individuals, corporations and foundations in collaboration with the
RDD or other event committee members or donors
- Identify grants, conduct grant research, and implement the
application process to corporations, foundations and government
agencies that provide funding in line with Pearl Buck Center
program needs
- Maintain records of grants, prepare summary reports and manage
implementation of grant programs as necessary
- Develop and produce materials used to support annual campaigns
and fundraising events
- Expand Giving Circle and corporate sponsorship program
including identification of prospects, preparation of proposals,
and recognition/acknowledgement with the RDD
- Coordinate fundraising events including the annual gala in
collaboration with the RDD, PBC staff, and event
committees
- Work with PBC staff to produce and post content for social
media platforms, Constant Contact, publications and
website
- Work with the RDD to create and implement development
strategies for Executive Director approval to promote marketing and
agency branding
- OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure workflow and/or procedures are kept up-to-date for owned
tasks
- Maintain all safety protocols and techniques within the
workplace
- Maintain an accurate daily record on timesheet of hours
worked
- Acts responsive and engaged with developing a positive work
environment which includes providing honest, respectful and direct
feedback to other staff, participating in team meetings, team
development, personal training plans, respecting diversity and
differences among staff, clients and stakeholders.
- Completes other duties as assigned
- MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's Degree in related field or 3 years relevant
experience
- Excellent communicator both verbally and in writing
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize
work
- Excellent organizational skills
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidential and sensitive
information
- Computer and keyboarding proficiency with knowledge of MS
Office
- Previous CRM experience required; Donor Perfect experience
preferred
- Dependable transportation; valid Oregon driver's license with
driving record sufficient to qualify to drive agency
vehicles
- Ability to pass an Oregon Department of Human Services
background check
- Experience working with adults with intellectual/developmental
disabilities preferred but not required
- PHYSICAL DEMAND:
- The physical effort typically applied in this job may include:
Pushing, Pulling, Lifting, Carrying, Reaching, Bending,
Keying/Typing, Driving, Standing, Walking, Speaking and Repetition.
Much of this will depend on the specific demands of the assigned
task.
- MENTAL OR VISUAL DEMAND:
- Frequent intense and/or exacting mental and visual focus is
required with this position. Attention to detail and accuracy are
critical.
- WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Work conditions will typically be in an office setting in a
climate-controlled and regulated environment. Special events and/or
donor functions may require working outdoors. Some travel/errands
to support fundraising activities will be required.
- ATTENDANCE:
- This position requires availability during regular business
hours: Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 5:00pm. This position will require
occasional work outside of regular business hours to support
fundraising and/or special events as directed by the Resource
Development Director.
- It is imperative that attendance protocols are adhered to and
that Department Call-In Policies are maintained at all
times.
