Hard-to-beat works too.**Responsibilities****Up to $3,000 sign-on bonus and relocation assistance eligible position!****Pay Scale:** $35.12 - $50.92**Shift:** Varied hrs**JobSummary:**The Ultrasonographer performs all ultrasound procedures as requested and covers calls as scheduled. Must be able to work independently and correlate procedures and images for interpretation with the Radiologist.**Essential Duties:**+ Promotes a strong belief in Mercy's Mission and has respect for and compliance with Mercy's Patient Rights Statement.+ Demonstrates behavior consistent with Mercy's Core Values: **Reverence, Integrity, Compassion,** and **Excellence** .+ Incumbent has access to restricted or confidential patient information and must comply with the terms of the Mercy Medical Center Security Policies as it applies to their job role.+ Collaborates with immediate supervisor to establish, define and refine department goals and objectives consistent with facility's Mission and Values, and demonstrates satisfactory progress towards these goals and objectives.+ Exhibits the ability to make effective decisions based on verifiable and measurable data/criteria.+ Promotes positive customer relations with internal and external customers.+ Demonstrates respect and sensitivity to cultural/social differences in interactions with others.+ Completes assigned tasks in a timely manner.+ Demonstrates initiative and problem solving skill, using sound judgment+ Assumes additional responsibilities as needed, with little or no direction, shows initiative in assisting others within the department.+ Collects venous and capillary blood by venipuncture and microcapillary technique. Effectively obtains samples from adults, newborns, children, geriatric patients, and patients with special needs.+ Demonstrates ability in the care and handling of patients in all age groups including, but not limited to, consideration of the special needs and behavior of each respective group.+ For scheduled shifts requiring morning round duties, will consistently meet draw time requirements.+ For scheduled shifts at an outpatient draw site, will consistently meet the 2% error rate policy/procedure.+ Uses Mobilab for all Inpatient draws.+ Retrieves (if future/standing) and reviews submitted Outpatient lab orders to properly determine needed tests. Completes telephone orders appropriately. Receives in and distributes specimens to the correct areas in the Laboratory. Uses Laboratory Information System for ordering tests, reviewing results, using LABFAX to send results and other functions in the computer.+ Performs chores and completes the appropriate daily chore log documentation.+ Maintains daily equipment temperature logs and reports discrepancies to technologists/supervisor/lead lab assistant as needed.+ Restocks supplies (draw rooms/carts) at the end of each shift. Fills supply orders for hospital/physician/lab draw sites as needed.+ Collects non-DOT urine Drug Screens according to laboratory protocol.+ Follows OSHA guidelines for safe handling and transportation of various laboratory specimens.+ Assists in Microbiology with micro planting of specimens and various procedures as needed.+ Completes patient registrations (short registration) on outpatients, client accounts, specimens from physician offices and drug screen collections as needed. Collects and completes all required forms and patient update information.+ Utilizes the Laboratory Test Directory when needed.+ Performs waived laboratory testing (once trained and proper documentation is on file) as needed.+ Assists with clerical duties in laboratory or draw sites, including greeting outpatients and other visitors, receiving/sending laboratory test results and answering phones using professional phone skills and laboratory phone script.+ Assists with processing patient paperwork and samples to reference labs and processing patient orders and samples received from outside clients as needed.+ Assists with training (basic phlebotomy skills/workflow) of new lab assistants as requested.**Qualifications****Required Education and Experience:**+ Graduate of an accredited Ultrasound school, who is registry eligible**Required Licensure and Certifications:**+ RDMS **or** RVT Ultrasonography certification (must obtain both credentials within 18 months of hire+ Must have current AHA BLS within 30 days of hire**Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities** :+ Must have excellent interpersonal, customer service, and communication skills+ Must be able to work without supervision, be organized, and a self-starter**Preferred Qualifications:**+ RDMS **and** RVT credentialed Ultrasonographer**Equal Opportunity**CommonSpirit Health--- is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer committed toa diverse and inclusive workforce.
