Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m.- 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on organizational need Financial Disclosure Report: Required Appraised Value Offer (AVO): Offered Recruitment/Relocation Incentive: Authorized Learn more about this agency Responsibilities VA Roseburg Health Care System (VARHS) is seeking an energetic, highly motivated physician with strong leadership, managerial, organizational, communication, and clinical skills to assume the position of Chief of Staff at this Level 3 medical center. Candidate selected for this position will: 1. Be a member of the VARHS Executive Leadership; participate in executive strategic planning, decision-making, policy determination and implementation, budget planning and resource allocation, operational plans; participate in defining and accomplishing the facilitys mission, vision, and goals; 2. Be fully responsible to the medical center director for programs of patient care and for the educational and research activities of the clinical services; be responsible for the management and operation of all clinical programs and services promoting the effective coordination and support of clinical programs; 3. Develop and present the budgetary requirements of the Clinical Services and assists in the formulation of the annual budget program; 4. Evaluate patient population needs, clinical workload and resources, and standards of clinical competence; monitor and evaluate clinical practices, peer reviews, and clinical performance while promoting the development of healthcare professionals through counseling, mentoring, and teaching; 5. Create and promote an environment of continuous quality improvement within the clinical services and in quality of care; 6. Maintain and promote high ethical and clinical standards ensuring medical staff compliance with agency regulations, medical staff by-laws, rules and regulations, facility policies, Joint Commission standards and those of other certifying and accrediting bodies; and serve as the professional liaison with the VISN 20 Network office, other VA and federal facilities, and community, affiliates, media, congressional, and other external stakeholders. Qualifications Basic Requirements: United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed. Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. Completion of residency training, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification. Proficiency in spoken and written English. Physical requirements outlined below. Preferred Experience: Management Degree, and/or experience in managerial, professional or clinical positions in a health care setting. In addition, the Chief of Staff should possess board certification in a medical specialty. Training or skills in risk management and/or continuous quality improvement. Lastly, outstanding skills working with teams to accomplish the goals of the organization along with the ability to manage a complex program.
