THE POSITION: The Outpost Mobile Food Center is targeted to address hunger and nutrition in underserved locations. The Mobile Pantry Coordinator will oversee the day-to-day operations of the Outpost including, but not limited to, conducting outreach toclients/host organizations, collaborating with community partners, and overseeing food inventory. This position will provide leadership to those staff and volunteers working in those programs, and be responsible for implementing program goals. In addition, they will support the Feeding Umpqua warehouse teamEssential Functions of the Job: Work on Mobile Pantry and oversee operations including loading and unloading the trailer, maintaining food inventory, maintaining food safety and cleanliness standards, setting up and taking down tables and canopy at distribution sites, assisting volunteers with distribution of food, and treating all clients with dignity and respect. Safely operate the Mobile Pantry truck and trailer including driving to distribution sites, conducting safety checks, cleaning the outside and inside, and scheduling any necessary repairs and maintenance. Accurately track client intake using electronic system, assure compliance with USDA guidelines, and complete accurate reports. Support on-site nutrition education activities at Outpost distribution sites, as needed. Provide leadership to staff, interns and volunteers helping at the distribution sites or at the warehouse. Oversee Outpost Facebook page and distribution of promotional materials. Handle all inquiries about the mobile pantry's service. Coordinate with local service agencies to provide outreach opportunities to mobile pantry clients and expand service opportunities to increase access to emergency food. Work in partnership with Feeding Umpqua Team to determine food needs and coordinate product acquisition. Support warehouse team including assisting with agency orders, sorting food, and assisting with pickups, deliveries, and processing of food drives, donations and special events. Coordinate food drives to support mobile pantry operations including scheduling drives, picking up food, and weighing donations. Actively attend and participate in all Feeding Umpqua team activities and Agency-wide activities. Believe in the mission of UCAN. Represent UCAN and the Food Bank in a positive manner in all interactions with the public and volunteers.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A minimum of two years related work experience including working with volunteers. Must have computer skills to include word processing, data base, spreadsheet, and e-mail. At time of appointment, must possess valid Oregon driver's license and clean driving record. Following appointment, you must become certified to operate forklifts and tow a trailer. Ability to obtain Food Handlers card become ServSafe certified. Must be aware of issues faced by community members experiencing poverty or facing food insecurity.DRIVING RECORD: Applicants selected for interview will be required to bring to the interview a recent Court Print driving history obtained from the DMV. Please allow 2-3 days for delivery and longer for out of state. In addition to the above, applications will receive further evaluation based on the following: Knowledge of: Human services sector and/emergency food. Knowledge about food assistance programs including SNAP, WIC and other assistance programs preferred. Knowledge about community-based health and local food systems preferred. Basic understanding of warehouse procedures and practices; basic knowledge and experience of general office practices and procedures and computer use. Skill in: Customer service, operation of equipment; use of mobile based technology, conducting outreach and making partnerships; coordination of projects and people. Ability to: Treat all persons with dignity and respect, communicate effectively in both oral and written forms; perform several tasks simultaneously; effectively organize work; work within a team structure; make decisions independently in accordance with established policies, maintain confidentiality; remain calm and use good judgment during confrontational or high pressure situations; work a flexible schedule, safely drive a large van with a 20' cargo trailer in-tow. Must follow all safety rules and practices, and perform work in a safe manner.PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work will require bending, keyboarding, carrying and lifting up to 60 pounds, pushing, pulling, reaching, stooping, standing, and walking. The job is typically performed under reasonably good working conditions of dust, dirt, heat, cold, and water. Work requires concentrated mental and/or visual attention and is performed in a safety conscious manner at all times.
