    Position Summary
    The purpose of the Database Administrator (DBA) is to work with our operations team to ensure the uninterrupted operation of ECS's high-performance, critical database systems.

    The DBA is responsible for database and database server administration; maintenance; monitoring system health and performance; tuning and query optimization; system security; and upgrades of databases. They will analyze, solve, and correct issues in real-time, and provide suggestions for long-term solutions. The DBA will refine and expand automated processes.

    The DBA is also responsible for writing, following, and maintaining written documentation and procedures and ensuring that safe and secure practices are actively followed.

    They will collaborate with developers on database development and deployment (DevOps). In addition, they will provide database expertise and advice as a subject matter expert to researchers and other staff.

    The position reports to the IT Operations Team Lead.
    Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a technology-related field and one year of Microsoft SQL Server database administration experience OR bachelor's degree in another field and two years of experience.
  • Knowledge of the operational management of SQL Server databases.
  • Knowledge of T-SQL and database objects (e.g., schemas, stored procedures, views, etc.).

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to embrace challenges and focus on continual improvement
  • Ability to solve problems, including implementing and verifying solutions.
    Preferred Qualifications
  • Implementation and management of SQL Server Availability Groups.
  • Familiarity with SSRS, SSIS, SQL Sentry.
  • Experience working with SQL Sentry for monitoring and problem-solving.
  • Experience with Azure.
