The purpose of the Database Administrator (DBA) is to work with our
operations team to ensure the uninterrupted operation of ECS's
high-performance, critical database systems.
The DBA is responsible for database and database server
administration; maintenance; monitoring system health and
performance; tuning and query optimization; system security; and
upgrades of databases. They will analyze, solve, and correct issues
in real-time, and provide suggestions for long-term solutions. The
DBA will refine and expand automated processes.
The DBA is also responsible for writing, following, and maintaining
written documentation and procedures and ensuring that safe and
secure practices are actively followed.
They will collaborate with developers on database development and
deployment (DevOps). In addition, they will provide database
expertise and advice as a subject matter expert to researchers and

- Bachelor's degree in a technology-related field and one year of
Microsoft SQL Server database administration experience OR
bachelor's degree in another field and two years of
- Knowledge of the operational management of SQL Server
- Knowledge of T-SQL and database objects (e.g., schemas, stored
procedures, views, etc.).
- Ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff
from diverse backgrounds.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to embrace challenges and focus on continual
