Job Description:

A pioneer in K-12 education since 2000, Amplify is leading the way in next-generation curriculum and assessment. Our captivating core and supplemental programs in ELA, math, and science engage all students in rigorous learning and inspire them to think deeply, creatively, and for themselves. Our formative assessment products turn data into practical instructional support to help students at every skill level build a strong foundation in early reading and math. Our programs provide teachers with powerful tools that help them understand and respond to the needs of all their students. Today, Amplify serves five million students in all 50 states.

We are looking for an experienced Agile Business Analyst to join our team and take internal data analysis and products to the next level. You will both direct a team and act as a data champion. This role ensures the successful fulfillment of key partner requirements by either directly developing solutions or partnering with the development team members. This role works closely with partner teams (Research & Measurement, Business data, and Customer Insights) to define product scope, document requirements, produce product backlog, and deliver high-quality releases. The ideal candidate is passionate about the work that will help develop our innovative educational products. This person will help individuals and teams continually improve their efficiency in achieving our education vision, through a combination of expertise, mentoring, and direct action. Join our team to further encourage our culture of data-based decision-making and innovation!

Responsibilities of the Agile Business Analyst:

  • Work with Key Partners, Domain Experts, and Developers to define and elicit business/product requirements, scope, and complete releases within deadlines

  • Translate and build requirements based on the level of uncertainty in a project.

  • Detail current operational procedures, challenges, and input and output requirements

  • Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with key partners and the agile development team

  • Familiar with technology - majority of projects will focus on data ingestion, linking between systems, and not on UI. Will need to be able to keep up with a technical conversation and capable of independent research into unfamiliar terms and processes

  • Requirements analysis: Collaborate with key partners and decompose large epic stories into features and user stories that can be understood and approved by members of the development team.

  • Requirements documentation: experience managing product backlog and product roadmap.

  • Experience crafting user stories and acceptance criteria to express requirements.

  • Experience providing product management support such as prioritization and backlog grooming.

  • Serve as a key member and invested leader of your cross departmental agile team to plan, develop, and deliver working software. Actively participate in your team's ceremonies and be readily available to address questions, concerns, and blockers.

  • Document and communicate bi-weekly and quarterly product status, issues, risks, and decisions to senior management in an Agile, change-laden environment

Basic Requirements of the Agile Business Analyst:

  • BA/BS or equivalent experience

  • A minimum of 3+ years of dynamic experience as an Agile Business Analyst

  • Agile/scrum experience

  • Experience with work management tools: i.e., JIRA.

  • Proven aptitude towards problem identification and resolution.

  • Familiar with data requirements and related data activities.

  • Proven organizational skills and great attention to detail

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills

  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills

  • Excellent project management skills

Preferred Qualifications of the Agile Business Analyst:

  • Experience working in the education technology field

  • Experience leading software development projects

  • Certification in a related process (PMP, Lean Sigma Six, Agile Scrum-master) a plus

  • Basic experience with SQL

We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees. To that end, we seek to recruit, develop and retain the most talented people from a diverse candidate pool.
