Job Description:


Responsible for leading a wide range of duties related to the construction phase of a project. Including, but not limited to, construction inspection or observation; verification of compliance with contract documents and project and/or client representative.

Responsible for all on-site project coordination, management of resources, and success of the project.

Due to the field nature of this position, applicants must have the ability to travel away from their home location for extended periods of time to work on field assignments. This position can vary between seasonal and full-time.


* Strong background in construction. * Strong leadership and mentoring skills. * Solid understanding of Owner/Consultant/Contractor communication. * Ability to coordinate with all other field staff for workload and resource balancing. * Familiarity and ability to lead field duties such as: * SWPPP inspections * Worksite traffic control and safety * Public progress meetings * Pay requests * Interim work authorizations * Change orders * Responses to requests for Information * Directives * Construction inspection * Strong verbal communicator. * Strong ability to multi-task. * Familiarity of field materials testing and procedures. * Proficiency of ODOT Standards Specifications and use of project specific special provisions including quality documentation, measurement and payment, etc. * Additional duties as assigned

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

* Sufficient English skills to compose correspondence, develop project documents, proofread documents, and effectively communicate with supervisors, engineers, clients and other applicable staff. * Ability to identify and define problems and communicate to supervisors. * Ability to work under deadlines. * Proficient to strong knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook software, Windows Operating System, and printing output devices. * Proficient to strong ability to use Smartphones as field reporting tools. * Ability to train less experienced staff for assistance in key day-to-day functions. * Proficient knowledge of interpreting and understanding engineering drawings. Familiar and ability to work with key components such as:

o Centerline and offsets

o Plan and Profile views

o Quantity summaries

o Grades

o Sheet references

Education and/or Experience

Four years or more of similar work experience in the construction management, civil engineering field or equivalent combination of work experience and or related college-level course work.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

* Must have a valid driver's license and a good driving record. * Professional Engineering license is desirable. * Basic First Aid, Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification, or ability to become certified, is desirable.

Certification requirements:

* ODOT General Construction, HMAC, and Traffic Signal Inspector certifications preferred or able to obtain within 6 months of hire.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as arithmetic and fundamentals of geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, proportions and angular relationships to practical situations.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to sit. The employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is regularly required to stand; walk and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision and ability to adjust focus.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, to moderately-loud due to the proximity to the construction site and related equipment.
