Senior Release Train Engineer

With a proven background in managing Agile teams at scale, facilitation, and continuous improvement, the Senior Release Train Engineer will be a strong promoter of Agile and the SAFe framework through their interaction with nearly every department at the company. In this role, you will ensure your Program Increment is progressing to plan, the teams on your Agile Release Train are following best practice Agile principles, and the obstacles and successes of your release train are widely communicated throughout the life of each Program Increment. You can set yourself apart from the rest by demonstrating your exceptional communication, leadership and organizational skills.

What you'll be doing:

  • Manage up to 2 Release Trains of between 7-10 teams each
  • Support the launch of new Release Trains and teams moving to the SAFe framework;
  • Report PI status on a regular basis to management, project teams and customers through internal and external status reports
  • Facilitate all aspects of the SAFe framework, including PI Planning, System Demo, Scrum of Scrums, PI Inspect & Adapt, PO Sync
  • Coach leaders, teams, and Scrum Masters in Lean-Agile practices and mindsets
  • Coordinate with other RTEs to manage risks and dependencies
  • Lead operational, tactical, and strategic activities across the organization
  • Maintain the PI plan, board, velocity charts and burn down charts
  • Lead decision making through data driven PI performance and status reporting
  • Work with senior or executive stakeholders to help ensure strategy and execution alignment
  • Foster Agile practitioner communities across RTEs, SMs, POs, and development teams
  • Anticipate, identify, manage, and remove impediments impacting Program Increments
  • Foster a collaborative culture within the team
  • Stay up-to-date on industry and job-related trends and best practices, including reading relevant publications, articles, blogs, etc.
  • Mentor and lead other scrum masters on methodology, processes and best practices
  • Schedule and facilitate program release planning activities
  • Actively track and manage execution against program release goals
  • Manage program status communication to ensure transparency on program status

What you'll need:

  • At least 3 years of experience as Scrum Master or Release Train Engineer
  • Experience managing one or more SAFe release trains
  • At least 1 Agile certification (CSM, Certified SAFe Release Train Engineer)
  • Active listener with strong written and oral English communication skills
  • Strong time management skills including work planning, prioritization, and organization along with an ability to handle multiple priorities and tasks
  • Ability to collaborate and work autonomously
  • Ability to work directly with business stakeholders and technical/product teams
  • Willingness to travel to other office locations up to 30%*

Nice to have:

  • Bachelor's degree in related field (equivalent work experience may be considered)
  • Knowledge of PowerBI
  • Experience with TFS or Jira
