Senior Product Designer (UX/UI) (6 Month Contract)

The product

Chegg is already a leader in online educational assistance, learning services, and digital textbook rentals. This position will help support our Learning Product Organization, which focuses on using instructional design principles to deliver products that help students acquire and retain knowledge.

This is a collaborative global team. It's a nimble and fun team to work with.

Our process

At Chegg, design plays a critical part in how we build products. We involve user researchers, content strategists, product leaders, learning designers, and engineers from the start of all projects. We make sure everyone is in constant communication with each other, and we collectively own the performance of our work.

What we're looking for

As a Senior Product Designer on the team, you will be responsible for designing the user experiences from discovery to delivery, and you will be evangelizing and representing the designs to the cross-functional team.

Scope

You should be comfortable owning the end-to-end user experience of several business-critical projects, as well as owning the design process from start to finish. You should be able to work alongside your product partners to help define the scope for a particular project when needed.

Design ability

You should have a solid understanding of design patterns on the web and possess a strong knowledge of responsive design principles.

Your day to day will include discovery work, conceptualizing new and updated workflows, generating concepts, prototyping, creating visual designs and specifications.

In addition to excellent interaction and visual design skills, strong candidates should have experience thinking in the big picture and end-to-end, applying strategic thinking and business goals to designs, knowing how to use qualitative and quantitative data to inform design decisions.

Communication

You are an expert communicator who evangelizes design and embraces feedback. You should be able to choose the right medium to communicate to the right audience at the right time. You will be in close collaboration with other designers, content strategists, researchers, product leads, learning designers, and engineers. So, you should embrace being transparent and honest.

Self-direction

You will have a team of designers and other UX partners to support you. However, you should be confident in leading a project from discovery to delivery. You should be comfortable navigating through ambiguity and working autonomously.

Requirements

  • 4+ years as a User Experience or Product Designer.
  • High degree of creativity and problem solving.
  • Strong conceptual, visual and analytical skills.
  • Ability to think and design holistically to create a coherent product experience.
  • Exceptional understanding of fundamental design principles.
  • Proven leadership, organizational and communication skills
  • Proficiency in UX Design tools such as Sketch and Figma
  • Experience with responsive designs for desktop-to-mobile products
  • Experience creating interactive prototypes using tools such as Invision, Figma
  • Relentless attention to detail.
  • Ability to collaborate with the larger team.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Design or related field.

Preferred

  • Experience in designing consumer-facing products.
  • Experience in the field of education.
  • Basic understanding of HTML/CSS.
