The Role

Korn Ferry's Organizational Strategy practice in North America includes Organizational Analytics & Design, Work & Career Architecture, People Strategy & Performance, Culture & Change, and Top Team Performance. We advise clients on how to drive organizational performance and change through organization and talent solutions.

In particular, Korn Ferry's integrated transformation solutions in Workforce Transformation, Diversity & Inclusion, Cost Optimization and Revenue Growth are tightly connected to our Organizational Strategy teams.

The firm seeks to hire an Associate Principal Consultant to join Organizational Strategy in North America. Our specific expertise need is in organizational design and job architecture. We're looking for people who understand work - at the job level and as jobs come together into work teams and organizational structures. Ideally you will have formal experience in work measurement, job levelling, job family modelling, and in organization design.

You will work closely with colleagues to deliver complex and/or customized and/or multi work-stream solutions that meet and exceed client expectations. At this level, there is an expectation that you would contribute to winning business, generally through extension of existing work but also as a 'go-to' person in smaller clients. You will lead relationships and/or projects of considerable complexity and will have the experience and expertise to engage and mobilise a client behind a particular idea or solution.

Key Accountabilities

  • Deliver high quality work that meets or exceeds client expectations through work quality and timeliness.
  • Lead and manage medium sized projects or complex work streams, including developing the project plan, engaging the resources and delivering the solution. Typical projects may last up to 6 months and would involve no more than 5 consultants.
  • Manage small client relationships and/or support relationship development as part of the account in order to win work.
  • Involve subject matter experts and more senior resources as needed and manage their involvement in the project.
  • Contribute to winning profitable business by conducting background research, proposal writing, pricing, shaping opportunities, pitch preparation and opportunity spotting in clients.
  • Deliver local marketing presentations. Takes the lead in sales calls/presentations and develops proposals in own area of expertise under general guidance from more senior colleagues. Provides sales/proposal support in major bids.
  • Develop deeper expertise in at least one expertise area, as well as being able to discuss all Korn Ferry Hay Group (KFHG) offerings in order to draw on appropriate practice expertise to provide business solutions, including those that may require inter-service line approaches. Continue to develop own consulting skills, business understanding and expertise.
  • Extend a strong internal brand and network of KFHG consultants and work to extend that brand into the broader KF network.
  • Work with KFHG industry leaders to develop and customize offerings within a service line and targeted at a particular industry.
  • Develop deeper expertise in at least one expertise area, as well as an understanding of KFHG's broader offerings.
  • Capable of articulating and discussing KFHG, representing how our unique capabilities will align with the client needs.

Skills & Experience

  • Bachelors or Masters degree, plus 5 years relevant work experience in a consultancy and/or a client HR function.
  • in Strategy & Operations/Transformation practice of a management consultancy OR HR Operations/M&A Integration /Organizational Development/Organizational Design
  • Track record of helping clients to develop and implement transformation roadmaps with a strong emphasis on the leadership, organization, people, and cultural changes required to improve performance
  • Skilled in some of the following areas:
  • Organization design
  • Organization effectiveness analytics and diagnosis
  • Career architecture development
  • Job family modeling
  • Career pathing and career mobility
  • People strategy development and implementation

  • Financial literacy, business acumen, and a profit conscious mindset with the ability to analyze market data, interpret P&L information, and translate that information into meaningful action plans.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and the ability to work independently. Ability to proactively achieve goals and strategies under shifting conditions and with different tasks, job responsibilities, and people.
  • Fluency in PowerPoint and Excel(pivot tables, Vlookups, Macros); familiarity with data analytics/visualization tools such as Power BI, Alteryx and Tableau preferred.
  • Ability to communicate ideas and recommendations to clients in a professional, clear, concise and engaging way
