DESCRIPTIONAbout the PositionTo support a department's complex
radio and communication networks; to perform installations,
upgrades, and problem determination on radios, including vehicle,
personal, and secured; fixed-site radio equipment; personal
computers (PCs), and computer peripherals related to the
communications network using established procedures; to provide
technical assistance to radio and computer users; and to maintain
hardware and software for telecommunications equipment.About the
DivisionThe Sheriff's Office, committed to justice and integrity,
is sworn to protect and honored to serve the residents and visitors
of Lane County. The Operations Support Division includes the
Support Services Section consisting of Sheriff's Office Dispatch,
Police Records, Radio Infrastructure and Property/Evidence. These
work units provide critical support to field responders, other
department members, outside criminal justice agencies and the
public in order to ensure overall continuity of Sheriff's Office
operations. Schedule: Monday through Friday generally. May be
required to work evenings, weekends and holidays on occasion*This
is a Lane Co Peace Officers' Association represented
position*QUALIFICATIONS Training: A two year technical or associate
degree in a radio or computer science field, or comparable course
work. Experience: Three years of technical support for radios and
radio communication equipment and computers as related to a
communications network. An equivalent combination of experience and
training that will demonstrate the required knowledge and abilities
is qualifying. Studies have shown that women and BIPOC individuals

Certification and Licensing Requirements This position requires a
criminal background investigation and, as a condition of
employment, certification to have and be able to maintain access to
the Area Information Records System (AIRS) and/or the Law
Enforcement Data System (LEDS). Must possess by time of appointment
at least one of the following licenses: FCC commercial radio,
amateur "tech-plus", amateur general, amateur extra or NABER radio
certification. May require certification to perform data
telecommunications installations/cabling. Notes:This position is
subject to a full criminal offender information record check. If
fingerprinting is required, the fee is paid for by the successful
candidate and the expense is non-reimbursable. Offers of employment
are contingent upon consenting to and successfully passing a drug
