Job Description:

The New Games Group is looking for a Senior User Interface Artist to join our team! We're crafting an exciting new project and are seeking a stellar UI Artist to come build something amazing with us.

The Senior UI Artist works closely with Project Stakeholders to establish and maintain the visual integrity, interaction methods, and brand standards for the user interface of the game. They participate in all phases of the experience design process with a concentration on visual design, UI art production and game integration into Unity.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

* Create high-fidelity mock-ups for pre-visualization during pre-production
* Build UI design/layouts, visual design, and high-quality art assets for user interfaces
* Prepare assets and implement user interface pre-fabs into Unity
* Collaborate with the art team to define and stick to a thematic art style
* Design (and create) functional animation for user interactions
* Find opportunities to mentor, share knowledge, insights, and experiences with others.
* Actively participate in company-wide UI/UX community events, critiques, product reviews, and feature retrospectives

* Ability to co-work and collaborate with multiple studio locations, teams, and partners

Knowledge and Experience

* A strong foundation in classic graphic design principles
* Skilled and expert in user interface layout design, hierarchy, color theory, and information architecture
* Proven track record to adapt and implement to an established visual style and build upon it
* Proficient at crafting and authoring functional UI animation
* Demonstrated ability to implement pre-fabs in Unity
* Experience with assessing and addressing product usability, enjoyment and applying user/player psychology

Skills

* Well-practiced and skilled in creating and implementing user interfaces and UI art for games
* Knowledge of UI animation and interaction design
* Collaborating and partnering with technical team members such as Tech Art and Engineering
* Experienced in working with the limitations and standard methodologies of developing games for mobile devices

Education and Level of Experience

* Education: Bachelor's degree in HCI, Design, Graphic Design, Illustration, Concept Art, or related area required. A combination of education and experience may substitute for a Bachelor's degree.
* 4+ years of experience in the game development industry specializing in UI art

Software Skills and Knowledge

* Standard creative software such as the Adobe Creative Suite
* Figma, Sketch, or other UI design tools
* Unity Engine (UGUI, NGUI)
* Familiarity with collaborative virtual environments (Miro, FigJam)
* Distributed version control (Git, Sourcetree)
* ProtoPie, Principle, or other interactive prototyping packages a bonus

The pay range for this position in California at the start of employment is expected to be between $90, 000 and $136, 000 per year. However, base pay offered is based on market location, and may vary further depending on individualized factors for job candidates, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to those same considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a bonus and/or equity awards, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an "at-will position" and the company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
