Position Description: Position SummaryAt Associated Universities,
Inc. (AUI) we collaborate with the scientific community to plan,
build, and operate cutting-edge facilities.We cultivate excellence,

expertise focuses on continually improving research and
development, user facilities, management and operations, technology
incubation, and community engagement through workshop and
conference planning.Here, we are seeking a Supply Chain
Intelligence Specialist who will report to the Senior Advisor,
Energy and Environment Programs, and is responsible for leading and
designing research initiatives to advance data analysis, model
development, and transparency in critical material supply chains,
focusing on machine learning and AI applications. They will develop
strategies to enhance domestic and ally supply chains, ensure
regulatory compliance, and drive high-impact industry initiatives.
Responsibilities include fostering collaborations, representing
AUI, managing advanced analytical methodologies, preparing reports
and publications, and supporting various team projects. The role
offers remote or Northern Virginia-based work options.This
appointment will be awarded initially for two yearsand renewable
for a third year. The location for the position will be in Northern
Virginia.A remote workstation within the United States may be
considered for candidates with sufficient experience who can work
independently while still communicating effectively with the
team.What You Will be Doing:Your key responsibilities and duties
will include, but are not limited to:
Research Leadership and
Innovation:Lead and design research initiatives to enhance data
analysis, model development, and transparency in upstream critical
material facilities and markets.Conduct cutting-edge research on
critical material supply chains with a focus on machine learning
and AI applications for modeling and analysis of social and
business networks related to batteries and other mission-critical
technologies.Lead the analysis of international transactions and
ownership/financing networks for critical materials relevant to
batteries.Strategic Development and Compliance:
- Develop strategies to enhance domestic and ally supply chains,
improve market intelligence, and ensure compliance with a complex,
evolving regulatory landscape.
- Develop feasible and cost-effective compliance mechanisms for
battery mineral and material sourcing regulations.
- Strategically prioritize, develop, evaluate, and champion ideas
that result in high-impact initiatives designed to advance supply
chain industry standards and drive market growth, ensuring
alignment with organizational objectives and long-term
vision.Collaboration and Representation:
- Foster research collaborations with funding agencies and
partner organizations.
- Represent AUI in interactions with external stakeholders.Data
Analysis and Dissemination:
- Lead and manage the development and application of advanced
analytical methodologies, synthesize results, and oversee the
preparation of comprehensive reports, publications, and
documentation.
- Analyze complex datasets and prepare manuscripts for submission
to peer-reviewed publications.
- Present research findings at scientific meetings and prepare
reports and presentations for group meetings.Support and

- Advanced degree (Masters or PhD) in science (including economic
sciences) or engineering, with a focus on modeling and analysis. If
a Post-doc, the PhD degree should already be awarded, although some
consideration may be given if the defense date is known. Hiring
preference is for individuals possessing excellent skills in data
analytics, machine learning, and the development of actionable
analytical tools for business decisions, however acquired.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience or equivalent
preferredCompetency Summary

development, and transparency in supply chains using machine
learning and AI, with a focus on batteries and related
technologies.
- Skilled in developing strategies to enhance supply chains,
improve market intelligence, and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Interest in creating cost-effective compliance mechanisms.
- Experience representing an organization to external
stakeholders.
- Expertise in managing advanced analytical methods, synthesizing
results, and producing reports and publications.
- Ability to support diverse initiatives, including product
development, funding opportunities, and research projects, with

salary range for this role is from $122,600 to $150,200based on
experience. Benefits:AUIs benefits package addresses the needs of
employees and their families, with most benefits beginning on the
first day of employment. AUI provides excellent paid time off (13
holidays, annual accrual of up to 24 vacation days and 15 sick
days, additional time off for doctor/dentist visits, and 8 weeks of
paid parental leave). Medical, dental, and vision plans are
effective on the first day of employment. AUIs retirement benefit
contributes an amount equal to 10 percent of a qualified
participants base pay with no required employee contribution; we
also offer an optional supplemental, tax-deferred plan for employee
