A Typical Day for Our Patient Service Representative Involves: Developing expertise in Howard Brown's program and funding sources, then communicating eligibility requirements to clients. Educating clients about their financial and insurance benefits, including government funds and drug reimbursement programs. Generating patient referrals to medical specialists as ordered by their doctors, using the process appropriate for patient's health insurance carrier. Assisting patients to identify and apply for appropriate pharmaceutical industry patient assistance programs. Providing routine yet important customer services, such as greeting all visitors, registering clients/patients, maintaining patient and financial records, and scheduling client appointments. What You'll Need - the Minimums: At least 18 years old. 1+ year of full-time work experience in any field. Have a basic understanding of technology. Sit, stand, walk and carry supplies and other items. High school or GED graduate. Experience in coordinating medical records and/or medical data entry. One or More of the Following Will Give You an Edge: Experience in CPT and ICD-9 coding 1+ years of full-time work experience in a high-touch customer service, patient care or similar role. Previous experience in a healthcare setting dealing with HIV/AIDS clients. Key Skills You'll Need to Succeed: Show initiative to anticipate issues and solve problems. Demonstrate friendly and knowledgeable customer service. Understand and communicate complex information.
